Aromatherapy for Eczema

Aromatherapy has been proven effective with certain medical conditions. Aromatherapy has been used for centuries for a variety of ailments and conditions, both mental and physical. If you or someone that you know suffers from eczema, there is a wide selection of aromatherapy recipes that you can use to alleviate your symptoms. Please consult your physician before trying any of these aromatherapy recipes to ensure that they are right for you.

Aromatherapy has many benefits when it comes to the skin. Aromatherapy uses essential oils and maximizes their benefits for the skin by balancing it. Many essential oils provide moisture and healing properties to the skin as well. Additionally, many essential oils also help to soothe the symptom of pain in many skin conditions. In this article, we will review numerous recipes for aromatherapy by the use of essential oils.

Before outlining the aromatherapy recipes by the use of essential oils, there are some precautions that should be reviewed, and they are as follows:

1) If you are pregnant, or nursing an infant, you should not use certain essential oils. Some of the essential oils that should not be used are peppermint, clove, white thyme, fennel, fennel seed, cinnamon, basil, sage, and rosemary. 2) There are certain essential oils that should not be used at home without prior medical or homeopathy care, and those are cinnamon, sage, clove, and hyssop. 3) If you are photosensitive, you should avoid certain essential oils. These essential oils include lemon, orange, lime, and others. If you are not photosensitive, and wish to use these types of oil, you should ensure that you stay out of direct sunlight for at least three hours after applying these essential oils to your skin. If you go out into the sun before this time is up, you could suffer from rashes and burns that may make your eczema worse. 4) If you are creating a recipe of essential oils to be used for your face, you should avoid steam applications of the following oils: sage, ginger, pine, and similar oils.

Aromatherapy Recipe 1: 7 drops of tea tree 5 drops of lavender .50 ounce of jojoba oil 3 drops carrot oil Combine all of the above ingredients and apply to the affected areas. This mixture should be used at night because you should avoid sunlight while this is on your skin. Apply this mixture only once per night for one week. If symptoms persist, or get worse, contact your physician for further advice.

Aromatherapy Recipe 2: Mix the following ingredients: 8 drops of sandalwood oil 10 drops of rose oil 8 drops of lavender 1 tablespoon of avocado juice Once all ingredients are mixed, combine in a spray bottle and spray the affected area. If the condition persists, or gets worse, stop this treatment and consult your doctor for further instructions.

Aromatherapy Recipe 3: Combine all of the following ingredients and apply to the affected areas: 11 drops of myrrh oil 8 drops of palmarosa oil 11 drops of frankincense oil 1 teaspoon of flaxseed

Many aromatherapy recipes can be used to soothe the symptoms of eczema. None of the recipes should be used for more than one week at a time, and your physician should approve all of the recipes before starting them.
